Veganastic Grilled Cheese

My little twist on the famous grilled cheese sandwich.

Preparation: 5 mins Cooking Time: 10-15 mins Total: 20 mins Serves: 2 people


A hot vegan grilled cheese sandwich

When I first became a vegan, I used to miss my old time favorite, the grilled cheese sandwich. However, when vegan cheese landed in Malaysian supermarkets, I was back to making these babies for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. I just find that a grilled cheese sandwich is so simple but so filling all at the same time. So, here is how I like to enjoy my grilled cheese sandwich and I hope you will enjoy it too.



Ingredients:


  • 1/4 of an onion

  • 1/4 of a tomato

  • 4 to 5 leaves of cilanto

  • 2 slices of vegan cheese

  • 4 slices of vegan bread

  • vegan butter (optional)


Instructions:


1. Cut onion, tomato and cilantro finely.

2. Preheat skillet on medium heat.

3. Butter 2 slices of bread and place the buttered side down on the skillet.

4. Add the slices of cheese.

5. Sprinkle the onion, tomato and cilantro over the cheese.

6. Butter the remaining 2 slices of bread and place the buttered side face up on top of the sandwich.

7. Grill both sides till the slices of bread are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

8. Enjoy the goodness of a vegan grilled cheese sandwich with a veganastic twist!
